In 2021, The Set boldly reimagined the hospitality landscape. Fuelled by a vision of championing independent luxury, CEO Robin Stangroom pioneered a values-led collection rooted in individuality and innovation.
Inspired by the belief that exceptional hotels – each with its own story and soul – could thrive through collaboration, we hand-picked partners who share our commitment to authenticity and conscious luxury.
This vision drew twenty distinctive properties into our collection, from modern grand city hotels to barefoot luxury retreats on tropical islands, connecting sophisticated travellers with extraordinary stays in the most sought-after global destinations.
In early 2022, The Set announced that The House Collective would join the founding members, officially adding Asia Pacific to the roster of hotels and destinations. The House Collective comprises of three destinations – The Upper House in Hong Kong, The Temple House in Chengdu and The Middle House in Shanghai. Each house is truly sophisticated, a singular centre of design that reflects their respective cities, balancing art and hospitality in one as a location for seasoned travellers across China and Hong Kong.
Spring 2023 saw The Set announce Hotel Esencia as both the first destination in the Americas and the first resort property to join the collection. Six months later, The Set’s growth expanded even further, with an announcement covering eight new destinations, including another first – luxury residences. Situated in Gstaad, Courchevel, Megeve, Crans-Montana, Geneva and Corfu, these private residences by the Ultima Collection were joined by Le Grand Jardin in Cannes and The David Citadel in Jerusalem, doubling the group’s portfolio to 17 properties. The end of 2023 saw further expansion into the Asian market with the group’s first Southeast Asian destination, The Siam in Bangkok.
Spring 2024 saw The Set announce an additional destination – Deos Mykonos. Situated a short distance away from Mykonos town, with sweeping views of Cycladic buildings and the water below, Deos became the group’s second hotel among the Greek islands. A seasonal property, Deos’ signature Greek hospitality and contemporary design makes it a new jewel to discover during the summer months.
In December 2024, The Set welcomed Nay Palad Hideaway, located on the island of Siargao in the Philippines. The hotel became the first member hotel to offer the ‘leave your wallet at home‘ concept to The Set guests.
In 2025 we embraced a new identity: The Set.
This evolution reflects not only our continued growth and versatility, but the breadth of hotels, resorts, and private residences that now find their home within our collection. As we expand our portfolio, we uphold our original purpose: to empower independent luxury for a new era.
